Week 4 Maths

This week everyone was asked to count the number of sides, vertices and faces in their 3D creation. Look at all of the wonderful working out that the students in Ruma Tahi have been doing. This created some repeated addition and skip counting for some of us.

The next maths task was to open a box and see what the net shape looked like.  We could then explore this and see if we could create our own 3D shape by drawing the net.

Whiz Group

Today we asked our friends to make a choice about what they would like to learn. We had friends choose to make 'Hokey Pokey' today. I bet I know why they picked that 'whiz group.' They get to eat delicious treats at the end.

Recycle Creations

Our activity today was all about using our recycling. We have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes and wanted our friends to use some of these shapes to make an interesting creation. Some of our friends thought really hard, came up with a good plan and followed through with making it.

Nursery Rhymes

For Friday's activity we asked our friends to practice a nursery rhyme. Nursery rhymes are important when learning to read. They help develop an ear for our language. Both rhyme and rhythm help tamariki hear the sounds and syllables in words, which helps kids learn to read!

Check our these cool kids.

We also had some really cool nursery rhyme posters.

Tahan is one of our visitors and she made a poster with her sister De-arna! Ka Pai Tahan!

Geometry

In Ruma Tahi this week we have been exploring 2D and 3D shapes.  Everyone took part in a shape workshop online.  There has also been lots of experimenting going on.  We have made houses and also counted all of the sides that our shapes have.  Well done Tamariki.

Be Kind

Be Kind : Pat Zietlow Miller : 9781626723214

Today's activity was all about kindness. Our Prime Minister is encouraging everybody to treat people with kindness and we wanted to find out the ways that you are kind.

This is what some of you listed.

Te Reo Colours

Today's activity was all about learning our colours in Te Reo. We had to listen to the colour song and then go for a hunt around our whare to find colours.

Tuakana/Teina

Today we asked our friends to write a letter to their buddy from Ruma Tekau. We get to see the twice a week when we are school so we want to make sure we have a way of keeping that connection strong.

Layla has missed her friend Suri. She wrote her a letter to fill her in on what she has been doing. Miss Hutchings sent it to Suri and then she wrote a reply. What a cool way to get in touch with your friends.
